1993 coronation

Kabaka Mutebi II was named Heir in his fathers will after his death in 1969 while in UK. He was the son of late Kabaka Sir Mutesa II who also served as the first President of Uganda and Lady Sarah Kisosonkole. Installation rights were done in 1971 during his father’s funeral in Uganda.Unlike modern monarchies, the first son can never ascend the throne but becomes head of the family. However since the traditional monarchies had been abolished by the then Milton Obote and Idi Amin Governments, he was officially Crowned in 1993 after the Restoration of Ugandan traditional Monarchies.
